Union County Elementary School

The teachers my grandson has had have all been wonderful and effective teachers who care. I have found the office staff to be very helpful and friendly and I think the principal is a wonderful, friendly, helpful and caring person!

The front office and principal are very rude. It was like an episode of The Jerry Springer Show. Very embarrassing. My family hated this school.

Our daughter was being sexually harassed on a bus for an after school program. I addressed the issue with the bus driver. Then the lead of the program, and nothing was fixed. I then spoke with the principal, and the lead of the program. Again, nothing was solved. It took having to talk to the transportation director, to get it handled. Not sure why the principal couldn't take care of it herself. From my limited interactions with her, she seems to be very ineffective at handling conflict. We have the same issue every year with our other daughter where we tell the teachers to keep us informed of any areas they feel needs extra attention at home. I keep in close contact with them but usually don't find out about areas for improvement until it's negatively impacted her grades. If we email back and forth once a week why can't they tell me about these things BEFORE it becomes a problem? Considering we're so actively involved in their education these things shouldn't be an issue. Other than those two complaints, we haven't had any other issues.

UCES has teachers who really care. The teachers here are willing to go above and beyond expectations to help students experience academic success.
