Glenwood is a mix of townhomes and single-family properties with quiet streets bordered by Wade Avenue, St. Mary’s, and Peace Street. While these main roads can see heavy traffic, the rest of the neighborhood is a rather peaceful corner of the city. In the Northwest, Fred Fletcher Park offers a gorgeous greenspace away from the crowds.
Glenwood is a small and incredibly desirable neighborhood with great access to everything Raleigh has to offer, and prices there reflect both the demand and its relatively low inventory. Single-family homes are often in short supply and easily go for above asking, but the benefit is being next-door to some of Raleigh’s best bars and restaurants.
Glenwood itself is a bit lacking for restaurants, but Glenwood South is one of Raleigh’s best spots to grab a bite. Just a walk away, all kinds of cuisines are available from traditional burgers and pizzas to outstanding pho! Right across Capital Boulevard, you can find upscale options on Seaboard Square, so a good meal is never far away.
There’ll be lots of pedestrian traffic at night while Raleigh converges on Glenwood South, as well as cars clogging the main roads during rush hour. On the west look for Fred Fletcher park, gorgeous schools, and lovely craftsman homes while the south and east expect more developed retail and restaurant areas as Glenwood meets downtown.
On a Friday night, enjoy an easy walk into Glenwood South to some of Raleigh’s best restaurants and bars. Catch live jazz, go dancing, or just grab a beer at some of the city’s best watering holes which are easily walkable from anywhere in Glenwood. There’s plenty of options from dive bars to upscale tapas and more.
Fred Fletcher Park is meant for long walks on a Sunday morning, and then follow that up with a turn into Glenwood South for some of Raleigh’s best brunches or a day sitting in the sun in one of the many outdoor bars.
There are plenty of bus stops along main roads as well as easy access to main roads to easily get around the city or further out to surrounding areas. Glenwood is also exceptionally walkable and bike-friendly, so plan on keeping the car in the driveway.
