Around Grand Harbor
Lake Conroe is a boaters' and fisherman's paradise and Grand Harbor's amenities were developed with that in mind. The community has it own boat launch, so residents who don't have their own boat docks still have convenient access to the lake. There's also a wonderful lakeside pavilion ideal for family get-togethers and barbecues. In the center of Grand Harbor is a large park featuring tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a walking trail and plenty of green space. Sam Houston National Forest is just a few minutes away and offers so much to nature-lovers. The Lone Star Hiking Trail is over 100 miles of scenic woods to explore. Horses are allowed on the multi-use trails and there are quite a few primitive campsites available throughout the park. Hunting and fishing are also allowed year round. Grand Harbor is served by the Montgomery Independent School District. The district receives above average ratings by several independent school ranking services.
The towns of Montgomery and Conroe host a quite a few local events throughout the year. Seasonal and holiday activities run the full range of what someone would expect from small towns. There are a lot of parades and fairs to choose from. Each town has its own park district which present youth and adult sports and other activities as well as events such as outdoor concerts, movies in the park and family camp-outs. Aside from what entertainment Montgomery and Conroe offer, there's plenty to see and do in the area. The Texas Renaissance Festival is the largest renaissance faire in the US and occurs in the Fall annually in nearby Todd Mission. Several wineries and breweries have sprung up in the region and there are some great restaurants and resorts around the lake.
