Around Hollywood Park
The majority of the homes in Hollywood Park have been there for many decades, but there is enough new real estate to meet the needs of every homeowner. This includes contemporary condominiums, brick ranches, 2 flats, and split-level houses. Some homes are fairly small, while others are quite large and spacious. Almost every home has a yard. The main streets in the neighborhood are Peterson Avenue and Bryn Mawr. Most drive in the neighborhood, but the Metra and CTA are nearby if necessary.
While the neighborhood itself doesn't offer much in terms of restaurants or retailers, the surrounding neighborhoods do. Most dining is casual and locally owned, and you will find a nice selection of Chicago classics.
Since the size of real estate in the neighborhood varies, you will enjoy a nice mix of singles, couples, families, and retirees. This is a dog friendly neighborhood, so lots of socialization occurs while out walking the dog. Since most homes have front and back yards, you will see kids playing or riding their bikes outdoors when the weather permits.
Hollywood Park has quite a suburban feel to it, so Friday nights are pretty low key. A great night to stay indoors with family and friends. Hop in the car to head to the movies or out for the evening if you want to get out and about.
Sundays are also low-key. Head over to the nearby nature preserves, or to the outdoor areas of the Chicago Park District's Hollywood Park, which features 7 acres of outdoor area. During the week, you can enjoy the park's small fieldhouse, two softball fields, four basketball standards, tennis court, volleyball court, and multiple community events. Also check out what is going on at the nearby Peterson Park.
