Around Kalorama

This area consists of two, smaller residential neighborhoods: Kalorama Triangle and Sheridan-Kalorama. Sheridan-Kalorama primarily consists of single-family homes, while Kalorama Triangle contains row houses, apartment buildings, and condos. Both halves of Kalorama boast stunning views, intriguing architecture, and proximity to Embassy Row.

Within just Kalorama, there are several small markets, delis, and restaurants. The neighborhood is minutes away from two of the most popular neighborhoods to socialize--and eat--in D.C.: Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle. Adams Morgan is known for its variety of cultural cuisines and quaint restaurants with Latin American and Middle Eastern foods. Dupont Circle's eateries run the gamut from casual to fancy, with traditional to very modern, trendy menus.

Due to the proximity to the embassies, Kalorama you'll see a significant number of diplomats and professionals. At the same time, there has been an increase in the number of young families with small children in the neighborhood, as well. Due to the price of the properties, college students and young professionals are more scarce.

Grab dinner at one of the many local restaurants--you could try a new place every Friday. If interested in a night out, the row of bars on 18th Street in Adams Morgan are especially popular on Friday nights. Dupont Circle also is popular for its clubbing scene. If looking for a midnight snack instead, there are restaurants and dessert shops open late in both neighborhoods.

Take a morning walk to the National Zoo near the Woodley Park Metro Station. Then, swing by Dupont Circle for brunch. Explore the popular bookstore and café Kramerbooks & Afterwords and end your morning with a drink from a café in Adams Morgan.
