Around King William
The homes in King William are historical and real estate options are few and far between. Should you decide to buy one of the homes in the area, chances are you'll be living in a real piece of San Antonio history. Many of the homes have been converted into businesses, but there are still a few that house residents. Many of the homes also feature sizable front or back yards, and a few have installed pools to keep cool in the Texas summers.
Being a part of downtown means residents in King William have quick access to some of the best cuisine San Antonio has to offer. Many of the eating places in the neighborhood are closer to the schools and feature fast and easy eats. There are also some local museums and art galleries where you may be able to enjoy a sandwich or something from the cafe. However, if you're looking for a steak night or a delicious Mexican meal, you will have to venture outside of King William to other areas of downtown.
King William is definitely a great place to take a walk and experience the rich, cultural history of San Antonio. You are likely to see people out and about, visiting local museums or even just looking at the historical homes of the area. Many of the people living and working in the area are artists at heart, so you won't see a lot of power-walking Moms with strollers in this area of town. You're more likely to strike up conversation with a long-time resident who can tell you about the history of their home or business.
Friday night may be spent at a local wine bar or art gallery celebrating an artist's latest work. There are also a few schools in the area, so Friday night football is always a good way to cheer on the local community. This residential area of downtown isn't far from the main source of entertainment in San Antonio. In just a few minutes you can be at the River Walk enjoying a drink with friends or hitting up the mall to see the latest blockbuster hit at the movie theater.
Being a pedestrian-friendly area, Sunday should be spent out and about getting to know the area more. There are plenty of local museums, trusts, and galleries to occupy an entire Sunday. Beer gardens and a local brewery are on the edge of the neighborhood limits, so you could also spend some time with friends catching up and enjoying some local brews. If being one with nature is what you really love, then hit up the San Antonio River or rent the city B-Cycle and take in the area on two wheels instead of two feet.
