Around Kingsmill
Kingsmill has a growing list of active clubs and groups. Children can participate in a number of different organizations, including the Sharks Swim Team, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Sea Scouts. Artists and crafters have painting and quilting clubs, as well. Gardeners have a couple of clubs to choose from, and women's clubs include investment groups, golf foursomes, and a social club. The community's Recreation Committee organizes a number of fun seasonal events. In the summer, there's a cook-out, a Fourth of July celebration, and a pool party, and kids' parties are scheduled yearly for Halloween and Christmas.
Kingsmill offers its residents a full array of excellent amenities. Its three recreation centers are the hubs of activity for the community and include outdoor swimming pools, playgrounds, and tennis courts. Two ponds equalling more than 60 acres are ideal for fishing and kayaking. Runners and bikers will appreciate over seven miles of paths that wind their way through Kingsmill. Membership at the Kingsmill Resort is optional, but residents may want to consider it, as the resort has truly world class facilities. Its three championship golf courses and golf academy have a long list of awards and accolades. Its tennis club has 15 courts, adult and junior academies, and a full-service pro shop. The resort's four restaurants serve up everything from comfort food to fine cuisine using locally sourced produce and seafood. The lazy river pool is a very popular feature, too. Kids and adults of all ages can float around the sparkling pool while others lounge under beach umbrellas and enjoy drinks from the poolside bar. Public schools in the area are James River Elementary, Berkeley Middle School, and Jamestown High School. A private high school, Walshingham Academy, is also close by.
