Homeowner Association Challenge

Sandra W
While the accommodations may be good, the HOA is an on-going nightmare. Here are my observations: 1. They have folks drive around with nothing else to do to write "tickets". My husband and I have owned two places in this neighborhood for over 10 years. We literally had to bring my mother in law, who was 80 years old, in a wheel chair, with amputated foot, with NO pets, to prove she had no pets and was not the person walk downing the street who did not clean up after her dog. A. She can't walk. B. She had a foot amputated. C. They automatically assessed us a fine because the local neighborhood patrol said it was her walking a dog. D. We said they could inspect her apartment ANY TIME to ensure there were no pets. Result? Since we were owners, but my MIL was tenant, we had to flt to Chicago to resolve. Since then, she has passed away and we have other tenants. Latest drama is that it takes the new HOA organization 14 days to process a check ONCE THEY RECEIVE IT. Seriously? This is 2018, not 1950. So if they receive a check from me for the HOA fees on June 15, and they diddle around for two weeks, they get to charge me a late fee, which is next to impossible to get resolved. Solution? Pay $400 to get on a plan to go plead my case at an HOA meeting. Seems like a fine collection scheme to me. They need to get with the program. Few people setup automation payments with each individual vendors site. They do it ONCE from their bank, but their HOA vendor doesn't show up as an approved vendor from Chase. (yes, a teeny, tiny bank). Seriously? 3. So, my experience has been, if you want an community that has payment systems that are from century, this is not the place for you, and if you will be frustrated by people driving around and "reporting" on your infractions, even if they are wrong, this is not for you, because the process to resolve is too much drama/time. Definitely not for anyone born since 1990 as you will never be able to use modern payment systems with this place, and you are guilty per the patrol , regardless if what they "think" is true or not. Really disappointed in this place, could have been so much better for the new generation of tenants.

Nice Townhomes

Homes are a little older, but the neighborhood is well maintained and people are nice. Lots of parks and even a golf course nearby. Some homes have views of the golf course or open space.
