Around Miraloma
Close to Mt. Davidson Park and near Bella Vista Way are the perfect places for anyone with a growing family. With the park being a popular spot to bring children on the weekends and its proximity to the local middle school, this section of the neighborhood makes it an attractive area for families. While on the southeastern side, closer to Glen Canyon Park is a younger crowd, mostly made up of grad students and recent college grads.
Though Monterey Boulevard has a few great sushi and seafood restaurants, Miraloma suffers from the same thing that many residential neighborhoods do, a lack of variety in price and style of food. However, there are a few upscale restaurants near Joost Avenue that offer five-star cuisines at a great price.
As with most neighborhoods located near big parks, Miraloma is a hot bed for joggers, dog walkers, soccer players, and any assortment of outdoor activities. The neighborhood is flanked by two parks, which make it a double jackpot for residents who love to be surrounded by nature and open green spaces. Residents in this area are typically young families with children, making Miraloma a very low-key and friendly neighborhood.
The neighborhood has an extremely small nightlife scene that pales in comparison to other parts of the city. There are a few cocktail lounges and sports bars, as well as a couple of venues that have live music every night on the western side of Mt. Davidson Park. But for the most part, Miraloma tends to be a nice and quiet residential neighborhood.
Taking a short hike around Mt. Davidson Park is a popular Sunday trek for many residents who bring their whole family along for the expedition. On Sundays, locals check out the farmer's markets, which are some of the best in Miraloma. One of the popular markets in town on Portola Drive has some of the freshest vegetables and fruits in the city.
