Currently have one child at GVHS with another who will be starting this fall. School has a huge list of AP classes available for students, and is one of the only schools in Clark County with an IB program. Have found most teachers to be excellent, with one noteworthy exception that is no longer employed by CCSD (thankfully). As the parent of a two sport, varsity athlete that is also heavily involved in the performing arts program, I can also say the extracurricular programs here are outstanding. In particular, GVHS deserves special credit for supporting their performing arts programs with the same level of seriousness as their athletic programs. My child sometimes has conflicts between athletic and choir commitments, and there is no pressure to choose one over the other. Principal Roberts is an effective leader who not only works hard to support the safety and academic achievement of the students, but also strongly supports ALL of the extracurricular activities offered by the school, whether they involve athletics or the arts.

I would rate it a ten out of ten.

I couldn't be happier. Great students, great teachers, great administration and the best extra curricular programs in the valley.

Pros: The school has a great reputation. Great sense of community and school pride. Very inclusive learning environment. Successful school. Doing many things right. Cons: The office receptionist and Athletic Director secretary are unfriendly, slightly abrasive, and rude. I was offended by the way I was treated attempting to turn in paperwork and pay class fees. All other interactions have been positive. Grateful to live in the neighborhood and for my kids attending GVHS.
