As Fayetteville and the county have grown substantially, their capacities for fun have kept pace. The Fayette County park district offers a vast variety of youth and adult athletics and Special Olympics participation. It also coordinates dozens of trips for all ages to attractions throughout Georgia including whitewater rafting, historical tours, and festivals, just to name a few. It is also the originator of a very active Red Hat club called the Fayette Foxy Redhatters. There are several major venues in or near Fayetteville that host great events. The Atlanta Speedway in nearby Hampton has a multitude of NASCAR and local races as well the annual Atlanta Airshow and professional driving classes. Two amphitheaters, the Frederick Brown Jr (aka "The Fred") Amphitheater in Peachtree City, and the Southern Grand Amphitheater in Fayetteville bring in local and national music acts year-round. Fayetteville presents farmers markets and seasonal celebrations at various locations in town and in its historic downtown area.
