10/10. Grandview has been wonderful for my son in every aspect. He has blossomed and is doing so well. The teachers, principals, everyone there are kind and caring.

Derry Area School District does a great job of balancing education, exploration, history and fun. At the Elementary level, the school is an excellent facility with access to many things in the area.

Grandview Elementary School really is one of the best kept secrets in Westmoreland County. Within the school you will find a dedicated staff of teachers, counselors, principles, etc who are all dedicated to helping students achieve both social and academic success. My husband and I chose to move to Derry and have our children attend Grandview. We have been more than pleased with their achievement. The school offers wonderful programs such as: Tiny Trojans, story time (from infants to pre-kindergarteners), parents in the school, art shows, CSI programs, STEAM classrooms, numerous after school sport programs, etc. The students get the opportunity to take part in so many fun and educational activities (fluency feasts, poetry picnics, career day, field day, variety of fieldtrips). The PTO is amazing and provides so many wonderful events for the students. I really could go on and on about Grandview! You only need to walk through the front doors to discover Grandview is truly GRAND!

Don't send your child to this school!!! Especially if they have special needs. The director of special services doesn't follow correct procedure in getting your child tested. Be prepared to constantly nag to get anything done. Then be prepared to hear a lot of yelling from him because he doesn't want to do his job. He should be fired. The bulling policy is not enforced. There are good teachers, but they are becoming few and far between at this school. And make sure you check their credentials. Some of them should not be teachers. They are still deciding to send the 5th graders to the middle school or not because they didn't make enough room when they built the addition onto the elementary school. 950+ kids in one school. I think that is a lot for one small school, even with the addition. Should have kept 1 of the other elementary schools open to handle to overflow. They were not thinking, per usual. If you see the principal, consider yourself lucky. She is always MIA. The assistant principal handles all the happenings in the school. And he will talk over you most of the time if you have a problem. I am so disappointed with this school. Especially this year for my child. If you can, go to another local school such as Latrobe or Ligonier.
