The College Park Recreation and Cultural Arts department features four modern recreation complexes. It schedules a full line of activities for youth and adults. Youth sport programs in football, basketball, and cheerleading are prominent, but other sports such as volleyball, gymnastics and track are also popular. Adults can find basketball and kickball leagues, fitness classes, and workout facilities. The “Cultural Arts” side of the department is also well-represented. There are a number of dance teams and classes for all ages, including a step/dance team for 4- to 16-year-old males. Music lessons for children are also available. Events in College Park are what one would expect from a small town. There are several seasonal events such as a Christmas Parade and an Easter Egg Hunt. Of course, with Atlanta close, there is no shortage of events to attend and attractions to see. Shopping and day-to-day errands are quick and easy for River’s Station residents. There are five grocery stores within a three-mile radius of the community and dozens of retail shops and services along Riverdale and Fayetteville Roads. The Southlake Mall area has a multitude of restaurants and shops, and a 24-theater movieplex. It’s a 20-minute drive from River’s Station. Nightlife near the community consists mainly of clubs and sports bars.
