Around Southeast Ravenswood
Southeast Ravenswood is a combination of older graystones and townhomes built after the Great Chicago Fire as well newer condominiums and apartment complexes. Essentially all of Southeast Ravenswood is residential, with most of the commercial activity happening in its parent neighborhood, or right on the border streets of Irving Park and Montrose.
Like the rest of Ravenswood and Chicago's north side in general there's a high quality selection of culinary options. Like the neighborhood's homes, there's a good mix of new and old when it comes to restaurants. Ranging from traditional American to genuine Neapolitan pizza, Southeast Ravenswood has something for every palate.
Southeast Ravenswood follows the trend of most other north side neighborhood by hosting largely young professionals or families with parents working downtown. Since the area's boom in the 1990's more high end residences have been built, bringing with them higher end residents, including the city's current mayor.
Southeast Ravenswood is home to many bars and Irish style pubs. The general theme with the Southeast Ravenswood nightlife is sports bars, but there's also a small selection of higher end bars for those looking for great drink and food variety. If you're looking for a less traditional Friday night there's a large creative influence in the neighborhood making art galleries a prominent option.
Check out some of the many brunch options in Southeast Ravenswood or nearby Lincoln Square for a fun Sunday with friends. The Ravenswood Art Walk s a very popular annual attraction that draws huge crowds every autumn for music, art and food. Or if you'd like to spend a Sunday by yourself check out the neighborhoods library or one of its many bookstores.
