Ashland City
Notable For
Ashland City is most known for its natural surroundings. This charming suburb has four parks, including Riverbluff Park. The park, located on the banks of the Cumberland River, offers a large playground, vast soccer fields, and running trails. The river provides plenty of recreational opportunities, with residents swimming, boating, or enjoying picnics by the water. The Bicentennial Trail is also a popular spot for walking, running, or biking.
Cost of Living
Compared to Nashville, and even some other suburbs of Nashville, Ashland City offers value and variety to homebuyers. The suburb offers new builds–both single-family homes and attached homes—and older homes at starter home prices. However, sprawling farmhouse properties and luxury condos can occasionally be found on the market at higher price points. In general, Ashland City’s cost of living is lower than Nashville’s and is on par with the state average.
Transportation
Like many places in the Nashville area, Ashland City is a car-dependent suburb. It’s usually a 30-minute drive from Ashland City to Downtown Nashville; and although this small town feels farther out than its peers, the low-density population means that traffic never becomes unbearable on the way home from work.
Schools
Ashland City is served by the Cheatham County School District, which includes six elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools, and one K-12 school. Pegram Elementary is a fine arts magnet school that integrates music, art, drama, and dance into the school’s academic program.
Attractions
Residents host gatherings all year long for events like the local farmers market or the Cheatham County Fair. In the fall, the city hosts “Music on Main,” a free festival that features local artisans, farmers, and, of course, showcases the best local music just outside Nashville. The city’s main street is populated with sleepy establishments that add color to the local business scene, but big-box stores are also available in town to meet the needs of all residents.
