I had 2 kids attend Marshall. One child with Asperger and ADHD. The teachers were helpful with us starting her IEP. We had multiple conferences. Her teachers would keep us informed via email and work with her quirks. The principal is phenomenal. I had never meet him before and he stopped me at a school event and said "You are "kid's" mom, aren't you?" He is very involved with the students and faculty. The other assistant principals are involved as well. They have multiple events for the children and opportunities for parents to keep involved. We were worried because we heard a lot of bad things about Metro Schools but Marshall is an excellent choice. Give public schools a chance and get involved!

My kids love this school for the most part. Faculty and staff seem to genuinely care for the kids. Both my kids get excellent grades. My son did have a small issue as he was targeted by a bully but the actions taken by the school were excellent. The principal and his staff did an excellent job handling the situation and worked with my wife and I to get my son into a different class. Since then he has excelled and actually looks forward to school. Some policies are a little overbearing. Like the anti-fighting one. The whole grade is punished for just the actions of a couple of students. But overall excellent school.

The principal and most of his staff members display characteristics of extreme immaturity. What's presented to the parents and public is very inaccurate. This school is not to be taken at face value. My 7 years of experience at this school has unfortunately been very disappointing. There is an extreme lack of adult leadership and the students have little to no positive role models. The lack of good character and maturity shown by the administrative staff is very concerning. Our children in the Antioch/Caneridge community deserve much better. A great school should not only supply a great education, but it should also demonstrate maturity, professionalism, good character and hold themselves to a very high standard. Which unfortunately Thurgood Marshall Middle Prep is severely lacking.

i was alarmed to find out about their new adopted policy of no fighting which is great, but what bothers me is the entire grade is punished or isolated and segregated from participating in the extra fun day activities for a handful of students that find it necessary to have a physical altercation. if any students for that particular grade has an altercation then that stops the entire grade from participating in said activities. i do not think that any childs should be responsible for another child's behavior or choices. you punish or discipline the ones that are involved. i have a fourth grader who has never been in trouble and she was re-framed from participating because someone she didn't even know , got into a fight. If this is a case then one teacher acts unprofessional then i should hold all the teachers responsible, or if one principal commits a crime then all of the principals should be held to consequences or if i as a parent of a child in the school decides to commit a crime then all the parents of children there should face consequences because you couldn't control my behavior. NOOOOOOO!!!! this is ridiculous and not thought through..... lets put a spin on it and say if several students get to fighting then the principal and teachers do not get paid for that month, or if students fight then they do not get to have the teams for sports participate for an entire moth with scheduled matches...... better yet lets say if kids fight there then the school board and director of schools will not receive their salary for a month!!!! this sounds insane but this is what they are doing to these children. children need to be responsible for their own actions and i believe this is what we teach our children but yet this school wants a student in that particular grade to assume responsibility for JIM JAMES PAUL AND TYRONE and their behavior and if they mess up then said child receives consequences when they may have been no where around!!!!!!! tell me what you think
