Posted April 06, 2015 - a parent I ran and served on the school board because I was concerned with scores in some of the schools. RFHS is a pretty good school considering we are in Texas which somewhat lags the nation in education. There is a fair amount of turnover most of the teachers are caring and helpful. My son went through the schools here and recently graduated from UT and will be going to law school. A child can get a good education here.

I have a freshman at Rockport H.S. who is in all Pre-AP classes. There are no books, no book reports, haven't had any field trips. Way too many half days. They pull kids out of school around 2 p.m. for sports tournaments making it difficult to catch up on classwork. Several assignments are not even graded. I think the teachers are doing the best they can with a weak administration and a majority of parents who look at school as a babysitter.

The school offers advanced placement and dual credit courses. There are multiple extracurricular activities, and groups for students to join. The teachers are very professional. The counseling staff works very hard to accommodate students and their needs and questions regarding post-secondary education..
