The last 2 reviews are surprising. This has not been my experience or those of my friends I have spoken with. Both my children have attended Navarro schools since 1st grade. My youngest is about to graduate. I had 2 children on different ends of the academic and social spectrums. My oldest was at the top of the class and involved with everything Navarro. My oldest was well prepared and has had no problems academically at a prestigious university. My youngest has learning and socialization problems. That child will be well prepared to attempt community college or trade school. I can't thank the teachers at Navarro enough for the time my children were there. The school is not perfect but, the resources and caring staff are available. Are there bad teachers and administrators? Yes, but they are becoming fewer and fewer as I've seen through the years. In the years my children have been attending this small school district, we have seen Navarro continue to strive to be the best small school for education in the area. You can go to bigger schools in the area for more choices but Navarro offers the small community feel with plenty of opportunities for parent and student involvement.

Navarro High School is currently rated #5 in San Antonio and surrounding area, just behind Alamo Heights and a few of the Specialty schools in the area. Ranked in the top 10% of all Texas HS and maintaining National Recognition, Navarro's reputation is impeccable. Having moved into the district from out of state, 5 yrs ago, with a good school district in mind as a priority, we have been pleased year after year. With exceptional teachers and support staff and an administration that has preformed at award winning levels, the children of Navarro are a priority. Navarro strives to prepare students as well rounded, college bound students. The number of students attending college on scholarship and almost 0 drop out rate is impressive. While sports are a focal point, the Band and Arts programs are becoming just as important as the number of participating students are steadily increasing. Experience with all of the above has been exceptional. With children attending the Int. and the HS, parental involvement is encouraged and well received by administrators and teachers. With children who had previously only attended private schools, Navarro sets the bar high for public schools.

I have to say that I agree with the reviewers who are less that satisfied with Navarro. I am a certified teacher who knows how a good school district is run. I moved both of my kids out of Navarro (my oldest was there for 7 years) and they are MUCH happier. They are receiving a far superior education at their new public school. I was repeatedly disappointed in the treatment of students towards other students. I was also disappointed that too many teachers in the district did not want to teach, refused to answer student questions during class, and refused to send home graded papers/test so you could understand what your child needed to work on. This is a cookie cutter school district. Your child must fall into their realm of education or your child will get left behind or will mark time when they could be learning MUCH more. I had one of each! It was very frustration. My last complaint is their sports programs. If you have a girl who is into sports....good luck! Their programs are ALL about the boys!
