Brighton Park is a largely residential neighborhood on Chicago's Far South Side. Borrowing its name from Brighton, Massachusetts, the area is known for being a hub of trucking and transportation. But, despite its industrial and commercial draws, it's mostly a blossoming residential area home to Chicagoans who want easy access to the city but having a quiet neighborhood to call their own. Brighton Park attracts folks from all across the city looking for a true community to call home.

Brighton Park is a relatively peaceful area that has seen much growth and expansion over the last fifty years, with access to the Stevenson Expressway, the opening of the CTA Orange Line, and the revamping of Chicago Midway Airport. Bungalows, ranch-style homes, and brick multi-units line the streets, and many homes have a front or backyards and a car park or garage.

"Fusion" is the word in Brighton Park. Popular joints include Asian-American and Mexican-coffee shop combos, but there are a number of popular seafood and BBQ restaurants in the area as well. If you have a sweet tooth, Brighton Park has an abundance of specialty dessert destinations too.

Friday Night Fun

Take it back to the 1950s with a visit to an old-timey soda shop. Make your night super sweet by grabbing ice cream and donuts at the local diner. For a night out, there are a few bars along South Archer Avenue, the neighborhood's main thoroughfare. West 47th Street also has a club, sports bars, and neighborhood pubs.

Take a dip or stroll in nearby McKinley Park, walk to the Geographic Center of Chicago, and keep your outdoor day going strong by looking at modern graffiti art all over town. You could also start with brunch along S Archer Avenue before watching locals compete in football, soccer, or softball in Kelly Park.
