Overview
Lincoln Park--the area, which includes its namesake park--is a sprawling neighborhood stretching from the lake to the river and covering over a mile and a half from north to south. The sheer size of the area makes it distinct, but that's just the beginning of why so many Chicago residents call it home. This idyllic neighborhood is the epitome of "best of both worlds"--thoroughly residential but not sleepy, notably urban but not chaotic. With a plethora of restaurants and bars lining streets like Armitage Avenue, Halsted Street, Lincoln Avenue, and Clark Street, and memorable theaters and music venues stationed throughout the neighborhood, you don't have to leave Lincoln Park to experience Chicago culture. DePaul University rests in the heart of the neighborhood while around the corner you will find Kingston Mines, a popular blues bar.
But what Lincoln Park is best known for is, of course, the actual park. As the largest public park on the North Side (clocking in at 1,208 acres!), it offers endless greenery, biking and walking trails, lakefront beaches, and even a nine-hole golf course. Home to famed attractions--the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Chicago History Museum, and North Avenue Beach-- the park is always a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the last free public zoos in the country, houses lions and tigers and (polar) bears, oh my!
