South Shore has a handful of prominent restaurants along 71st and 75th Streets. Grills and family-owned fast food venues are the most common and offer everything from burgers to Chinese takeout. Finer restaurants in this area are found east of Jeffery Boulevard and generally close earlier in the evening. South Shore is best known for its deep-fried and grilled items with small family-owned restaurants also along 75th and 76th Streets. For something a bit healthier, check out the soulful vegan fare at Majani.

Diners and late-night fast food restaurants are plentiful in South Shore, so finding midnight snacks is easy in this neighborhood. There are a handful of clubs in this neighborhood for a more lively crowd, or you might enjoy a relaxing evening with a leisurely drive down South Shore Drive.

The South Shore Cultural Center features an array of events. A Sunday visit to 71st and Exchange Drive may turn into a beautiful trek through the South Shore Nature Sanctuary. The proximity of recreational facilities in this area makes a terrific afternoon outing. Alternatively, check out the numerous shopping plazas and malls that offer a wide selection of affordable products.
