Where To Live

Halsted Avenue, 107th, and Beverly Avenue are some of the main streets in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is somewhat divided, because the Dan Ryan runs through the neighborhood. The closest CTA stop is the Red Line at 95th, but there are three Metra stations in the area serving both the city of Chicago and the suburbs.

Around Washington Heights

Where To Eat

The culinary scene is quite casual: lots of Chicago classics, as well as Eastern European and Jamaican foods. There’s not much fine dining in Washington Heights, but there are more options when you venture to the nearby Brainerd, Longwood Manor, and Princeton Park. There is not much in terms of fresh and local produce, but lots in terms of delicious fried foods.

Friday Night Fun

Casual date nights are ideal in Washington Heights. Check to see what activities are available for kids and adults at the nearby Jackie Robinson Park, which features multiple indoor and outdoor activities for both kids and adults.

The Perfect Sunday

If weather permits, head over to the park to play outdoors. Many of the locally owned businesses are closed on Sundays, so you may need to head outside of the neighborhood or even to the nearby suburbs. Keep in mind that the Metra schedule is limited on the weekends. If you enjoy the outdoors, head over to the nearby Major Mayor Trail to hike, cycle, or simply enjoy the forest preserve.
